We are pleased to share the latest initiative by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to enhance the visitor experience and promote tourism in Hong Kong.
With effect from 1 October 2025, the scope of passengers exempted from the Air Passenger Departure Tax (APDT) will be expanded to include:
- Passengers arriving in Hong Kong by aircraft and departing by aircraft on the following day.
- Passengers arriving in Hong Kong by land or sea and departing by aircraft on the same day or the following day, except those who have departed Hong Kong by land or sea on the day of or day before their departure flights.
This new arrangement provides a great opportunity to encourage visitors to extend their stay in Hong Kong and explore the unique attractions of Asia’s world city.
New Refund Application Platform
To facilitate eligible passengers in claiming refunds for the APDT already paid when purchasing their air tickets, the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) will launch a new Refund Application Platform on 1 October 2025. Eligible passengers can apply for refunds by uploading their supporting documents to the platform.
