The 2026 Hong Kong Tourism Development Forum, co‑organised by China Tourism Group (CTG), the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong (TIC) and The Federation of Hong Kong Hotel Owners (FHKHO), was successfully held from 9–11 June 2026. The forum brought together over 500 leaders and stakeholders from Hong Kong, the Mainland and overseas under the theme:
“Win‑win Collaboration · Tech‑Empowerment — Supporting Hong Kong in Consolidating its Position as a World‑Class Premier Tourism Destination.”
In his keynote address, Chief Secretary for Administration highlighted that Hong Kong’s tourism sector continues to demonstrate strong momentum. Visitor arrivals exceeded 18.5 million in the first four months of 2026, and full‑year arrivals are projected to reach 53.8 million, representing a further 8% year‑on‑year increase.
The Government will soon launch a two‑month public consultation on Hong Kong’s first Five‑Year Tourism Development Plan, aligning with the national “15th Five‑Year Plan”. The strategy will fully leverage the Central Government’s supportive measures for Hong Kong, strengthen the city’s unique role as a bridge between the Mainland and the world, and position Hong Kong as a world‑class tourism destination and an important window for East‑West cultural exchange.
Mr Zhang Xu, Chairman of the World Tourism Alliance, remarked that the forum closely aligned global industry transformation, national strategic deployment and Hong Kong’s development needs, serving as an important platform linking the Mainland, Hong Kong and the global tourism industry. The Alliance stands ready to play a bridging role to help Hong Kong unlock its full potential.
Mr Wang Haimin, Chairman of CTG, highlighted the Group’s nearly century‑long roots in Hong Kong and its active presence across tourism, retail and cruise sectors. He reaffirmed the vision that “tourism is everywhere in Hong Kong” and noted that the forum aims to consolidate collective wisdom to reinforce Hong Kong’s position as a premier global destination.
During the forum, participants discussed the application of artificial intelligence, big data and smart services in tourism scenarios. Industry consensus underscored technology innovation as a key driver of transformation, enhancing visitor experience and operational efficiency.
Breakout sessions on tourism retail, cruise development and regional collaboration further explored consumption upgrades and new growth engines. Notably, CTG and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University jointly released the Visitor Satisfaction Index Report, evaluating performance across attractions, hotels, dining, retail and transport, providing valuable insights to enhance service quality.
The Federation will continue to work closely with the Government and industry partners to advance high‑quality, innovation‑driven and sustainable development for Hong Kong’s hospitality sector.
Thank you for your continued support.
