The “Hong Kong Five-Year Plan” Tourism Sector Consultation, held on 15 May 2026, was successfully convened by The Hon Perry Yiu and The Hon Vivian Kong, in collaboration with the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong, the Federation of Hong Kong Hotel Owners, and the Board of Airline Representatives in Hong Kong.
The consultation brought together nearly 70 representatives from across the tourism and related sectors to exchange views and offer constructive recommendations on the formulation of Hong Kong’s Five-Year Plan.
Discussions focused on the strategic directions outlined in the Hong Kong and Macao chapter of the National 15th Five-Year Plan, including the development of the “Ten Centers,” “Two Hubs,” “One Ecosystem,” “One High-Calibre Talent Hub,” and the acceleration of the Northern Metropolis. These national development strategies provide clear direction for Hong Kong’s long-term positioning and present significant opportunities for the tourism industry.
Participants offered valuable insights on a range of key priorities, including:
- Deepening the integration of culture, sports and tourism
- Developing a vibrant mega-event tourism economy
- Attracting high value-added visitor segments
- Consolidating Hong Kong’s status as an international aviation hub
- Strengthening industry talent development and training
The Hon. Perry Yiu expressed sincere appreciation for the thoughtful and forward-looking contributions from attending representatives. The deliberations underscored the importance of collaboration along two critical dimensions:
- Enhanced coordination across the entire tourism value chain; and
- Cross-sector partnership between tourism and other industries.
Strengthening these two dimensions will be pivotal in reinforcing Hong Kong’s competitiveness as a premier international destination. The Hon. Perry Yiu and The Hon. Vivian Kong will consolidate the industry’s views for submission to the HKSAR Government for consideration.
The Government is expected to launch a public consultation on the Hong Kong Five-Year Plan later this year. The Federation will continue to work closely with legislators and industry stakeholders, and additional engagement sessions will be arranged as appropriate. Members are warmly encouraged to continue providing feedback and recommendations to ensure that the hotel sector’s perspectives are fully reflected in the forthcoming consultation process.
The Federation expresses its sincere gratitude to members for their active participation and continued support.
