The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Hotel and Tourism Management Ranked No. 1 Worldwide for the Tenth Consecutive Year

The Federation is delighted to share with members another piece of good news for Hong Kong’s hospitality industry. The School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has achieved a historic milestone by securing the No. 1 position in the “Hospitality and Tourism Management” category of the Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2026.

This marks the tenth consecutive year that the SHTM has been recognised as the world’s leading institution in the subject, having maintained the top position since the category was first introduced in 2017 – making it the first hospitality school to achieve this feat. Alongside the QS World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Shanghai Ranking is widely regarded as one of the world’s three most influential and rigorous university ranking systems. Sustaining the top ranking for a decade firmly consolidates the SHTM’s role as a global leader in hospitality and tourism education and research.

The Federation extends its warmest congratulations to the SHTM on this extraordinary accomplishment, which is a testament to the dedication, scholarly excellence and enduring global impact of its faculty, staff and researchers. The achievement also highlights the strength of Hong Kong as an international hub for hospitality and tourism education and talent – a key pillar supporting the city’s position as a world-class tourism destination and the “Events Capital of Asia” under the First Five-Year Plan and the 2026 Policy Address.

We look forward to continuing our close partnership with the SHTM in nurturing the next generation of hospitality leaders for Hong Kong and beyond.
