Traffic Arrangements for Mainland Labour Day Golden Week (1–5 May 2026)

Please be informed that the Government has released the latest traffic and public transport arrangements for the upcoming Labour Day Golden Week from 1 to 5 May 2026.

 

During the holiday period, a substantial number of residents, visitors and cross-boundary vehicles are expected to use various boundary control points. The Transport Department has appealed to cross-boundary travellers to plan their journeys in advance, allow sufficient travelling time, and use public transport as far as practicable when travelling between Hong Kong and the Mainland or Macao.

General Expectation

Heavy passenger and vehicle traffic is expected at various land boundary control points during the Labour Day Golden Week period.

MTR Services

East Rail Line services between Admiralty and Lo Wu / Lok Ma Chau Stations will be enhanced at different times from 30 April to 5 May 2026.

High Speed Rail

Additional train services will be arranged between Hong Kong West Kowloon and Futian / Shenzhenbei Stations on selected dates. Temporary sleeper train services between Hong Kong West Kowloon and Beijingxi Station will also be added on selected days.

HZMB Shuttle Bus (Gold Bus)

Service frequency will be increased during peak periods, if necessary, to meet passenger demand.

Lok Ma Chau – Huanggang Shuttle Bus (Yellow Bus)

Service frequency will be increased during peak periods, if necessary, to facilitate passenger flow.

Cross-boundary Coaches

Additional quota will be provided to strengthen services during the holiday period.

Franchised Bus B Routes

The frequency of B routes serving land boundary control points will be increased to a level above that of normal weekends.

Non-peak travel is recommended where possible, as waiting times may be longer during busy periods.

Coach Tickets

Passengers intending to use cross-boundary coach services should reserve tickets in advance.

At Boundary Control Points

Travellers should maintain order while queuing and follow the directions of on-site Police officers and transport operator staff.

Cross-boundary Private Cars

Motorists should note that special traffic arrangements may be implemented at certain boundary control points depending on traffic conditions, and longer waiting times may be expected during peak hours.

HZMB to Zhuhai

Travellers should note that traffic near Zhuhai Port may be affected and should allow extra travelling time. Public transport is recommended where possible.
